You MUST DO THIS FIRST before you try to open FCP7 ONLY if you bought the new Motion app. Quit Motion, open the your new test project or other projects you have and make sure it works.

IF YOU BOUGHT THE NEW MOTION open Motion, create a test project, save it.

Click and drag Final Cut Pro to the Applications directory (Motion & Compressor too if needed) On my system it copied the programs to the Applications directory instead of moving (OK).

In the Applications folder locate the folder Final Cut Studio.

Click and drag Final Cut Pro X into your new folder created in step 3 (Move Motion and Compressor too if you bought them).

Make an new folder within and name it something like ‘Final Cut Pro X’.

Remove Final Cut Pro X from your dock (do the same for Motion and Compressor if you bought them too).

But for many who depend on FCP for a living it is not. This could be just the program you are looking for. There are many other issues to consider as well. However, since FCPX is incompatible with previous projects it leaves us in the lurch. What user of Final Cut Studio wouldn’t love 64 bit architecture, the speed, background rendering and many of the new features? If they had just added 64 bit and background rendering and put out a new release professionals would be jumping for joy. I am sure that there are many iMovie customers who will love the features in FCPX. There are plenty of others that are doing that. I am not going to spend time here decrying Final Cut Pro X.
